The Ansari And Three Arrows

Narrated by Jabir ibnu ‘Abdullah (RA) :

We proceeded in the company of the Allah’s Messenger (SAW) for the battle of Dhat ar-Riqa. One of the Muslims killed the wife of one of the unbelievers. He (the husband of the woman killed) took an oath saying :

I shall not rest until I kill one of the companions of Muhammad.

He went out following the footsteps of Allah’s Messenger (SAW). Allah’s Messenger (SAW) encamped at a certain place. He said :

Who will keep a watch on us ?

A person from the Muhajirun (Emigrants) and another from the Ansar (Helpers) responded.

He said :

Go to the mouth of the mountain-pass.

When they went to the mouth of the mountain-pass the man from the Muhajirun lay down while the man from the Ansar stood praying.

The man (enemy) came to them. When he saw the person he realised that he was the watchman of the Muslims. He shot him with an arrow and hit the target. But he (took the arrow out and) threw it away. He (the enemy) then shot three arrows. Then he (the Muslim) bowed and prostrated and awoke his companion. When he (the enemy) perceived that they (the Muslims) had become aware of his presence, he ran away.

When the man from the Muhajirun saw the (man from the Ansar) bleeding, he asked him :

Glory be to Allah ! Why did you not wake me up the first time when he shot at you ?

He replied :

I was busy reciting a chapter of Al-Qur’an. I did not like to leave it.

Children

Allah’s Messenger (salla-Allaahu-’alayhi-wa-sallam) said :

Children are the cause of grief, cowardice, ignorance and miserliness.

[ Reported by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer, 24/241; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1990 ]

When he said that children are the cause of grief, he meant that when a child gets sick, the parent feels grief; if the child asks for something that the father cannot provide, this grieves the father; and if the child grows up and rebels against his father, this is a cause of ongoing grief and distress.

When he said that children are the cause of cowardliness, he meant that when a man wants to fight in jihaad for the sake of Allaah, the Shaytaan comes to him and says, “You will be killed and will die, and your children will become orphans, lost and alone”, so he stays home and does not go out for jihaad.

When he said that children are the cause of ignorance, he meant that they distract a father from seeking knowledge and trying to acquire learning by attending gatherings and reading books.

When he said that they are the cause of miserliness, he meant that if a man wants to spend for the sake of Allaah, the Shaytaan reminds him of his children, so he thinks, “My children deserve the money, I will leave it for them when I die”, so he is miserly in the sense that he refrains from spending it for the sake of Allaah.

A River In Front of Your Door

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) :

Allaah’s Messenger (SAW) said,

If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him ?

They said,

Not a trace of dirt would be left.

Allaah’s Messenger (SAW) added,

That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.

A New Masjid In Sarajevo

Sarajevo

Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has about 120 mosques, however, Ilidza is the only part of the town that didn’t have a mosque. Now, the Muslims living in that part of Sarajevo are getting one soon.

As seen on the photos bellow, this is a bold concept of modern Islamic architecture since the whole mosque is being built in the shape of the dome with a few stylized traditional architectural elements. It is placed at the shore of the river Zeljeznica and close to the Sarajevo Airport. This building is a response to the growing needs of the believers in this part of Sarajevo. The construction is largely financed with donations by the members of Muslim Community in Ilidza and with the help of the Ilidza Municipality.

Seven Reasons To Perform Hajj While Young

Allaah (SWT) commanded :

And (remember) when We showed Ibrahim (Abraham) the site of the (Sacred) House (the Ka’abah at Makkah) (saying) : “Associate not anything (in worship) with Me, [La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Islamic Monotheism], and sanctify My House for those who circumambulate it, and those who stand up for prayer, and those who bow (submit themselves with humility and obedience to Allah), and make prostration (in prayer, etc.)”. And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj).”

[ Surat Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage), 22 : 26-27 ]

When I was planning to go to Hajj, I was thinking,

How long will my journey be on this earth ?

What if I don’t make it until my next birthday ?

Will I be questioned if I did not complete my hajj while I’m able to to do so ?

Reading this article makes me want to perform it even more, insha-Allaah. Jazakallaah khair for this article.

Are You Allah’s Friend ?

A little boy about 6 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.

A lady approached the boy and said,

My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window ?

The boy replied

I was asking Allah to give me a pair of shoes.

The lady took him by the hand into the store and purchased him a pair of socks, shoes and some food to eat. She also gave him few things of daily use. She patted him on the head and said,

No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now ?

As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words,

Are you Allah’s friend ?

Commentary
This story relates to a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (radhi-Allaahu-’anhu).

Allaah’s Messenger (salla-Allaahu-’alayhi-wa-sallam) said :

Verily, Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious, would say on the Day of Resurrection :

O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me.

He would say :

O my Lord; how could I visit Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds ?

Thereupon Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious would say :

Didn’t you know that such and such servant of Mine was sick but you did not visit him and were you not aware of this that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him ?

Then Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious would say :

O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me.

He would say :

My Lord, how could I feed Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds ?

Thereupon Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious would say :

Didn’t you know that such and such servant of Mine asked food from you but you did not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have found him by My side ?

Then Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious would say :

O son of Adam, I asked drink from you but you did not provide Me.

He would say :

My Lord, how could I provide Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds ?

Thereupon Allaah, the Exalted and Glorious would say :

Such and such of servant of Mine asked you for a drink but you did not provide him, and had you provided him drink you would have found him near Me.
